Before & After: Painted Brick

Painted Brick

Mischel Schonberg sent over this amazing transformation to their house.  They were tired of their house looking like every other brick house in their subdivision so they decided to paint their home. Look at the amazing results!  They also upgraded their garage doors from "builder grade blah to carriage house ahh".

The transformation is stunning, don't you think?  I'm sure their house sticks out from the rest now!

Kitchen Love

Painted kitchen floors: Pratt & Lambert gray + white cabinets + green interiors

Don't you just love how clean and bright this kitchen feels.  And I love how the cabinets are painted green inside!  What a nice surprise.  (And I bet you didn't even realize that the kitchen floor is painted too.)

Furniture-Restyled

I was introduced to a Flickr Pool called Furniture Redo via How About Orange and thought I'd share some of my favorites.  I love repainting older furniture pieces for a great new look!  (In fact I'm repainting one of my pieces now!  I'll share shortly!)  It's super easy and gives you a whole new look!

Make Your Own Canvas Rug

This is a project that I've had on my to-do list for a while!  Try making your own canvas rug!  I think my next place with all hardwood floors will be the perfect place to try it out.

Color is In!

This winter there were lots of neutral color schemes floating around.  Which I love!  But what about trying a little more color for the summer?  When I was in Chicago this weekend I took this picture of a display at Macy's.  Isn't it beautiful?  I love the crisp black wall with the splash of color on the background coordinating with the different colors of the KitchenAid mixer.

Colorful Store Display

I'd love to paint a few stripes on a board to put up on the wall in some summery colors just like the background of the display.  It would make an easy, quick DIY project!

Have you seen any displays recently that you like?

Bailey Doesn't Bark- Flamingos and Trees collection

[caption id="attachment_17" align="aligncenter" width="453" caption="Image via Bailey Doesn't Bark"]Image via Bailey Doesn't Bark[/caption]

I am loving Bailey Doesn't Bark's new limited edition Flamingos and Trees collection of home wares for Spring/ Summer 2009.  The collection will features dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls, cereal bowls, cup and saucer, salt and paper shakers and cups.

Designer Re Jin’s starts each piece with her drawings and then transfers them onto decals.  These are applied to the wares and left to dry overnight before fired in a kiln. After the cool down period, Re Jin hand paints the flamingos.  These are left to dry overnight and then finished with a last firing in a kiln.  This labor- intensive process truly makes each piece uniquely handmade and a work of art.  Good news, though, they are still dishwasher safe.

The Flamingos and Trees collection is available online at baileydoesntbark.com.
