Carpet Blues

Saturday was one of those days where I wished we never would have gotten out of bed. We had plans to put away the Christmas decorations and paint the office. Remember how I said that one of my New Year's Resolutions was to do something that scared me once a month? Well, my friends, I decided to choose a very bold color for the office... one of which I wasn't absolutely sure would go with the rest of our netural house decor. The color I settled on was a turquoise/seafoam color. I thought a 'pop' of color would be nice.

I returned home on Friday with paint in hand and set it on the ledge on the stairway as that's the first place to set stuff right when you come into our house. Fast forward to Saturday when I ask Casey if he can take the tree out of the house. He happily obliges. On his way out the door, I hear a big boom and just think that he knocked the gate off the top of the stairs, but then I look a little closer.... the paint can had been knocked off the ledge at the top of the stairs and split open and was pouring out onto the top step and onto the second step. Here is a picture after we soaked up most of the paint (3/4 of the gallon poured out).

We soon realized it was a lost cause to try and salvage the carpet at all. I made a few quick phone calls and was scheduled someone to come out Monday to replace the carpet. Luckily we had a remanent left over from the original installation.

If only the story would have ended there, though. Since we had a little paint left, I decided to paint a swatch in the office to make sure we liked the color before I went to go get more paint. Casey was busy doing something and decided he needed his drill. As he went downstairs to get his drill, King Jonzy decided to follow him. As he followed Casey, he stepped in the paint and managed to paint about 50 blue paw prints down the remaining stairs and in the rec room located in the basement. Who ever said this dog doesn't have talent? I think he circled around a couple of times before he realized where Casey was.

In the hustle and bustle of grabbing the carpet cleaner and scrubbing. And scrubbing. Scrubbing for 3 whole hours, I didn't get a picture. I know, I know, my priorities were not in line! Here is a picture of one of Jonzy's feet AFTER getting in the bath. You will probably have to click on it to even see the paint.
This picture really doesn't do it any justice. All of his four paws were covered in paint and one of his front forearms was too. Lets just say Jonzy is happy to be alive today and we are so glad that Saturday is over.

Super model mistakes

Lets just say that my new year is off to a good start. I went to work in some new jeans I bought at a killer sale yesterday. I'm feeling good and doing my model walk down the runway (a.k.a. the long hallway at my work decked out with all sorts of lame farm and turkey pictures. I hate those pictures more and more everyday). Anyways, my hot jeans are the perfect color and very L-O-N-G. You see, this is an issue for me. I am 5'10" and I always appear to be waiting for a flood. I buy jeans and they are the perfect length and every time I wash them, they get closer and closer to capri length. So anyways, great length-- even with my super models boots.

Right before lunch, I bent down to pick something up and I had a coworker say "What's that tag there?"

"Where?" I say.

"On your jeans"

Apparently I missed one of the 10 tags that these super model jeans were marked with. I almost pulled off the "oh, that's suppose to be there" comment, but it was pretty obviously. Lets just say that getting up a little earlier than normal maybe isn't such a good idea and also, always look in the mirror before heading out the door... check your back side too.

Mr. Old Faithful

Our Friday nights will never be the same. Pre-Caden, they were always filled with love, romance and kisses. Now that Caden is here, and we are so glad he is, this is what they are like...

Caden has been having issues getting it all out, if you know what I mean. He grunts, he turns red in the face, but to no avail in filling the diaper. It had been a week since he had produced a good full diaper that his daddy would be proud of so I called the nurse.

"A week? Oh, we don't like them to go over a week. Give him a suppository and some pear juice."

So after work on Friday, I picked up the goods and was so relieved to finally help my baby get a little relief. I must have looked helpless at the store as the woman gave me step by step instructions for submitting the suppository.

We laid Caden on his changing table and as he cooed and talked, we gave him the pill. Nothing. Nada.

"C'mon Caden, make Daddy proud."

It was like I was sitting there waiting for Old Faithful to go off. I knew it was coming and I was ready for a massive explosion. Nothing. Nada.

Casey's phone rings and he leaves the room. I am there screaming because I know it's going to come and I'm not sure I will be able to handle all the shrapnel and debris headed my way. Nothing. Nada.

Casey enters the room and says, "Ah, you're not doing it right, give it here." I gladly give up my post and let him go with it.

And oh, the beauty. It was as if Old Faithful had never erupted before. Caden was happy and so were we.

Maybe some day we will get back to the romance and kisses, but for now we are happy doing the poo dance.

Life according to Jonzy

Mr. Jonzy meets a little moose along his journey on the home front. Jonzy likes the little moose except for one problem.... He squeaks. Apparently Jonzy finds this squeak annoying.

Jonzy isn't happy until the squeak is gone. Rest in peace, little Moosey. RIP. Jonzy will cherish your squeaker.

Giggles

I have the giggles. All. the. time. And it doesn't even have to be about anything that's particularly funny. I just get myself going and can't stop. I have to think it's due to pregnancy and the gigantor pills they make me take everyday. It's like these pills give me a supernatural ability. I have more energy (well, at least when I finally wake up for the day... it's SO hard to get out of bed now). That, and I'm ready to hit the bed at 9pm. BUT, when I'm up for the day it's like I'm electrified, Grease style. I got chills, they're multiplying. And I'm losing control....

Great, now that song will be in my head all day. You're the one that I want. Ho, ho, ho. (that doesn't seem right to me either... it should be more like whu, whu, whu... but not according to lyricsdownload.com, folks). I've always gotta check to make sure I'm not way off... I'm like those horrible people you see on those Karoke shows.

Tell me, what makes you laugh?
