We spiced things up a bit when Caden wanted to watercolor the other day. I pulled out my lightbox, turned it on and placed a plain piece of printer paper on top for him to paint on. He loved it and it kept him busy for quite awhile.
I'm gearing up for winter around here and trying to fill my brain with all sorts of good indoor activities. My friend Jess turned me onto a site called Play at Home Mom. It's full of great ideas and very focused on learning through playing. I'm no education expert, but I've found Caden really enjoys learning this way rather than the "sit down and let's work on our letters." Which totally makes sense. I don't like to study either.... I'd rather research and learn more about what interests me.
I'd love to hear your ideas on indoor play. What do your children like play inside when the weather gets bad? Or are there websites you like to turn to when you need ideas?
I hope you have a great weekend! xoxo

Watercolor Business Cards

Today I attended my first local event and last night I realized I didn't have any business cards. I wanted them to be like a paint chip you take from the store so I went with a square design (2.5"x 2.5"). Water coloring them was so much fun and very easy.

I like how they each look different and I hope they are memorable. There is nothing worse than a lame business card. That might be a slight exaggeration, but you should stick out from the pack so people remember you. A good test is if people comment on your card when you hand it to them or can't stop starring at it or feeling it... good paper will go a looooong way!

Stripes & Watercolor

Strips and watercolor are some of my favorite things these days. When I spotted this notepad from Linda & Harriett it immediately made me smile. It's so simple, but so great.
What are you loving these days?

Locked Out

I'm so thankful for nice neighbors. We were locked out of our house this afternoon. (I blame it on our self-closing doors). I'm also thankful for nice weather. Those four hours would have been really long if it was rainy out. And another thing I'm thankful for? Bananas. They kept Mr. Porter happy until our hero pulled up in the driveway.
I'm not so sure I'm qualified to give a dose of happy today, but I found a tutorial for these neat watercolor business cards. I think you can probably see why I like them.
Now I need to bake something nice for our great neighbors to thank them for taking us in part of the afternoon. Any ideas?
