NYC recap: Design inspiration

I'm sure you are sick of hearing about NYC at this point.  I can't stop talking about my trip, though.  It was so inspiring.  I'm sure my husband is ready to build a guest house out back to have a little piece and quiet all to himself.  I saved the best post for last, though!  Today I will be showing you all of the great stores I stopped at while visiting.  I want to thank all of our great readers that helped me narrow down a long list of stores to stop at... I couldn't have seen so much without your help!  My friend Christy and I only had a short time to play, so thanks for helping us make the most of our time!!

First stop: Mood

I never knew how much fabric there was and now I really, really need to learn how to sew.  I can fiddle, but I want to be awesome at it.  And now I have about a million reasons to do it thanks to Mood!

My favorite find at Mood- this zebra fabric. It could easily make a nice rug for only $350.

Second stop: Fishs Eddy

I could have spent for.e.ver in this store.  It was filled with beautiful items at great prices -- my cup of tea! 

Just look at these cake stands.  Oh, be still my heart.

And they have a entire set of floorplan dinnerware right now.  Good thing you can shop online because I had to hold back at the store!

Third stop: ABC Carpet & Home

I was most excited about this store as SO many readers suggested it in emails.  I knew when I saw this as I entered that I was in for a treat.  You will have to forgive me for all the pictures.  I promised I narrowed them down!

 

I could have spent an entire day in the kid's section. Look at this tree house!

And this child's bedroom. Who thought cars and flowers could look so good together?

And the inspiration didn't stop. 

I love these light fixtures.  Such a nice touch!

It was a great day of shopping filled with inspiration and more inspiration.  I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse of NYC.  I hope to go back again soon!!

 

NYC recap: A Taste of NYC

Happy April Fools Day everyone!  Have any great pranks happening around you?  I noticed this one over at Design Mom this morning, and thought it was pretty clever.  Way to go Ralph!  {Design Mom still has 6 weeks of her pregnancy to go}.

Well, I am back from NYC and really, really tired.  We were delayed coming back a day and that was a little rough.  I'm not going to lie.  But the trip was really, really great!  It was short and sweet, but I want to thank all of our readers for your suggestions.  You made it really easy for me to pick out the good stuff and jam pack our trip.  Thank you!

Thanks to NYC, I am now 10 lbs heavier.  At least.  I ate everything and yes, I am paying for it now.  But it was totally worth it.  Look at all these incredible goodies.

The Odeon

This was the most expensive BLT I've ever eaten, but it was so, so good.  And their potato salad is to die for.  I also had a glass of their lemonade.  It was so tart and very yummy.  {Rating: 5 stars}

Crumbs

We had to get a cupcake from Crumbs.  I received several emails stating that this was your favorite cupcake shop.  I had the Reese's Peanut Butter cup and it was delicious.  Rich, but delicious.  {Rating: 4 stars}

Juniors

We stopped at Juniors in Brooklyn for dinner one night and I had their cornbread, Bacon Cheeseburger, and Cheesecake.  Can you believe it?  I ate like it was my last meal and we had to ask for a wheelchair to get out of there.  I'm not one for plain cheesecake, but this was amazing!  Super, super good.  {Rating: 4.5 Stars}

'wichcraft

I devoured the roasted turkey sandwich at 'wichcraft for lunch one day.  It was so yummy and warm too... it was cold and rainy that day so it hit the spot perfectly!  {Rating: 4 stars}

I just noticed that everything I ate had bacon on it.  Wow, I must love bacon.

Hello Spring

Hello everyone! Tomorrow, I'm excited to venture of to NYC for a few days. It's a little bit of Toolulu business mixed with a little bit of fun. I'm pretty excited about it. It's been a long time since I've been there.

And I know a few of you were bummed that you missed my DIY interior design class last term. Well you're in luck! I'm teaching it again and it's filling up fast. The class starts on April 7th from 6:30-8:30 pm for 3 weeks. You can call 402.437.2700 to register.

I'm headed to NYC next week on business an will have about a day to play.  What should I do?  It's been about ten years since I've been there? I would like to see a bit of uniqueness in style, fashion or decor.  And food too.  Surely I won't have any trouble, right?
