I love a warm, inviting space! The best thing you can do to make your home more inviting is making sure that the first space people see mirrors the rest of the house in it's style. Today I did a redesign of an entry way. I wanted this entry way to feel inviting, but modern.
1. Meredith Sideboard from Ballard Designs. I love the classic feel of the piece with the more modern shaped door fronts.
2. Custom Family Silhouette from ishootnouns on Etsy. (You can even get it customized in different colors!)
3. Selection of glass vases from Pier 1 Imports.
4. Hand-tufted rug from Overstock.com.

Working around the house can be fun!
Remember a little while ago when I highlighted some awesome modern cleaning supplies? Here's some modern tools that are just as awesome!
This is a new ladder design from CIMA. I LOVE how little room it takes up! It will slip so easily between bookshelves, behind a door, under a bed... It's made from sturdy carbon fiber composite materials, so even though it only weighs 1kg (or a little under 2 1/2 lbs.) it is sturdy enough for just about anybody to step on!
This is a little precision cutter (think X-Acto knife) from one of my favorite designers, Karim Rashid. I think that my interior design projects back from my school days would have been much more fun with a blade like this!
Right now our new apartment has the ugly radiators (you know which ones I'm talking about!) I wish they had this lovely modern radiator pictured above! You can't see it? It's the cool looking green wall art! Love it when form meets function! (Yes it's also from Karim...sorry, can't help myself!)

My favorite magazine:Elle Decor Idees
Usually I subscribe to 4-5 design magazines per year. When it's time to renew I gauge how much I like them by how many pages are earmarked, or just plain ripped out. If there's only one or two per edition I usually don't renew. This year I decided not to renew 3 of them and went with one that was a little more expensive and in French! Was it worth it? You tell me:

This is the first edition of Elle Decor Idees that I got. More than half the pages are earmarked!
Here's a few of the images from the current one that I loved!
Need an outdoor table but don't want to spend a lot of money? Here they took 3 different used tables and painted them all the same: white with an aqua stripe across the top. I bet you couldn't even tell at first glance that they are all different styles!

I'm not a huge "work in the garden" kind of lady. I've tried! I really have! Every year for the last 3 years something else seems to eat/kill my plants. But, I think I might try a little harder if my garden shed were painted like this!
You can order your own subscription through Amazon.
