I will probably have 3 by the time it's over

This pretty much sums up how I feel about family reunions. It's my turn to plan our family reunion this year and I must say that it has been fun, but mostly tedious and frustrating. I just have a couple of questions for you....

  1. Does your family have a family reunion?
  2. Does anyone attend?
  3. Are they fun or more "we are here because we are suppose to be"? And if they are fun, why?

Our reunion is this Saturday and Sunday and I think I have some fun things planned. I will let you know how it turns out. In the meantime, tell me your experiences.

We've had family reunions. With my family we were out in Utah at Aspen Grove--a fabulous place for a reunion, plenty of activities and they cook all your food for you too.

With Matt's family we just had one here in town, met at a park, then hung out at the church building, playing games and eating more of course.

I think most people come because "they have too--they're family", but end up being happy they were there.

This also reminds me of my brilliant idea for a new game show. . .Family Vacation Survivor. Or you could call it Family reunion survivor, where every day (or every hour) you get to vote someone "off the island."

Have fun! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Wendy-
There are a couple people I would vote off in the first couple minutes. So not a bad idea, I might have to pursue it... what would you suggest I do with the people voted off?

Oh and Aspen Grove... I (heart) that place... it is so pretty.

i feel for ya! My side of the family goes out to Mahoney State Park over Labor Day- just my brothers and their families and my mom and us- but three days are really too much for us! We end up wanting to kill eachother by the start of day 2. And with my family-that's not a figure of speech!

You have to book the cabins a year in advance- so my mom usually does it right when we check in. Then we go through a weekend of hell and leave with the wonderful notion we get to do this again next year. UGHHH- this is our last year of that craziness!

I think its a great idea- but just doesn't work for all families. John's family is great and their family reunions are wonderful- mine...not so much!
