Casey's brother, Matthew called last night. How exciting, huh?
Well, let me back up a minute and then you WILL think it's exciting. Matthew is 21 and lives in Ephraim, UT. Ephraim is smack dab in the middle of Utah and is known for its great Norbest Turkeys and of course, Snow College. From what the girls tell me, Matthew is quite a catch and is super good looking. And he knows this and isn't modest about it at all.
If you call him, you will usually get voicemail which says... "Hi, you've reached Matthew. I'm probably on a date right now, but leave a message if you are a girl and I WILL get back to you. If you are a guy, I don't really care... you can leave a message too, but I probably won't call you back."
Well, it goes something like that anyways. Last time I was out in Utah, I asked him how the dating scene was going, because, ya know, he has almost been back from his mission for a year. And I am concerned for his well being. I let him know that he was almost past his prime. He laughed and said, "I love a girl on the first and second date and by the third date, I'm just sick of her." I told him, well, eternity is going to be well, ahem, Hell.
So back to what I really wanted to tell you. We never get to talk to Matthew because his schedule is full of screening women for his wife to be. Living in Ephraim, you would think he would have run out of women by now, but he continues to find "new material". And when he called US, we felt so honored. Matthew, you actually care about us!!! And this is what he said....
"Yeah, I am headed over to a girl's house right now and I'm going to walk up and knock on the door and then I'm going to have to let you go."
Oh, I see, you are using us to look cool.
Ouch, that hurt.
