Let's just say that coming back to Nebraska was hard. I was really getting used to 85 degree weather. Here are a couple pictures from the trip.
We stayed at Bahia Principe Akumal (close to Tulum). We arrived there and were treated like royalty from the first moment. We were given a quick tour of the place (on a map because the place was huge! They employ over 2,500 people-- that's about 1 per guest!) The resort was all inclusive so there were many places to eat. Breakfast and Lunch were at the buffets and for Dinner we could reserve at many places... i.e. Gourmet (Yum-yum), Mexican (ok- maybe I was expecting authentic... we were in Mexico, right??), Italian, Seafood (yum), etc.
Okay, on with the pictures. We got to our room and as you know, they do towel foldings everyday. This was one of my favorites. And yes, that's a fresh bowl of fruit. I took this picture and I think it would be a great still life painting... reminded me of all those painting classes I took in college. UGH!
Our hotel room had a balcony. We were on the top floor (third floor) and this was our view... I think I could get used to this... as I'm hanging out in a nice robe and slippers... thank you hotel Bahia. I brought the slippers home. They are dang comfy!
We stayed in the same area (different hotel- El Dorado) for our honeymoon so we pretty much knew how we wanted to spend our days while we were visiting. We decided to go to Chichen Itza where some of the most amazing Mayan temples and buildings are. It was about a 2 hour drive each way from our resort, but it was totally worth it. Here's a picture of us in front of the Astrology building. One of the other days, we decided to head into Playa del Carmen to do some shopping and get some REAL Mexican food. I had Chicken Tacos and they were the bomb. It reminded me a lot of Cafe Rio... I think it was the cilantro.
Now, what you all are waiting for... pictures of the wedding. As you know the reason we ventured down to Cancun for our friend Hilary's wedding. It was beautiful and just like a fairy tale. Hilary's photographer pooped out at the last minute so all the friends got to be her photographers.... good portfolio building for our business (a blog to come at a later date.) It was a blast.
The setting for the wedding... before everyone got there.
Me and Casey... I was a bridesmaid. I also had the chance to play hairdresser. I did my own hair and another bridesmaid. Who would have known??
The BEAUTIFUL Bride and Groom!!! Congrats Hilary and Jason! We love you guys.
Ah! Now back to reality.
